ProSieben is a German Free-to-Air Television Network owned by ProSiebenSat.1 Media. It was launched in January 1989. It is Germany’s second-largest privately-owned television company. ProSieben not only produces some of its own programmings but also imports many American programs. ProSieben Fun, a pay-TV channel was launched by the network on 3 May 2012. On September 3, 2013, a third channel, ProSieben Maxx, began broadcasting.

There are three feeds to the channel: ProSieben Austria (for Austria), ProSieben Schweiz, and ProSieben Germany (for Germany). They have different news and advertisements for each country. This is the main difference. The English slogan of the channel is “We love you to entertain.” ProSieben broadcasts via the Astra 1L, 3A satellites. It is also uplinked by MX1 now part of SES Video.

Thomas Kirch transferred his shares in KirchMedia to his father at the end of 1999. This company then comprised the majority of Sat.1’s and ProSieben-Gruppe’s shares. Urs Rohner, a Swiss business lawyer, was elected CEO of ProSieben on February 1, 2000. Georg Kofler, who had been the CEO of ProSieben from its inception, resigned. Urs Rohner was not an expert in the television industry. Leo Kirch asked him to be appointed in order to legalize the fusion of Sat.1 and ProSieben.
